Summary
V. Reject is a zine that deals with punk rock and clinical depression. The author describes herself as white, upper middle class and asexual. In issue 11 she shares journal entries about the loss of a friend and her intense depression and self-hatred. It is partially handwritten and contains photos, ads, a letter from Ericka Bailie, a response to an essay about posers in another zine, a "dear you" letter, Sanrio/Hello Kitty love, reviews, and a soundtrack listing Issue 13 has responses from zinesters to the question "Is Punk Dead?," interviews with Ian MacKaye, Penelope Houston of the Avengers, Liam of the Slime People, Al Quint of the zine Suburban Voice, Exene Cervenka, and Calvin Johnson. There is also a dissertation regarding attitudes within and beyond the punk underground concerning race, racism, gender equality, and sexism and a piece on genital mutilation. In issue 14 the author talks about depression, labels in society, Christians, privilege, and Kevorkian's assisted suicides. The issue 14 1/2 Addendum is in the centerfold of 14. Each issue has zine reviews.
